Antiquum Documentum is a vocal consort that performs Medieval and Renaissance music—especially sacred polyphony—in a historically-informed style. We believe that greater cultural resonance can be found in this music through our wholistic approach to authentic performing practice. Through concerts, recordings, and interdisciplinary research, we aim to bring the best resources of the present to illumine the past, thus providing new directions of study and performance for the future. Namely this has included a series of liturgical reconstructions, wherein we consider the true context of the music we sing which is so easily disregarded. This series has taken place at venues in Oxford and London, including notably St. Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield.
